Today I...

• Called my friend Ross by mistake when trying to dial the upholstery shop and ended up having a nice coversation.

• Realized that reupholstering a chair cost more than buying a new one.

• Was nervous around the geese and ducks that were walking towards me in haste and quacking.

• Listened to the song at the end of Sixteen Candles when Molly Ringwald is sad because the wedding party left, but Jake was standing there as cars were pulling away.

• Will do this project if I can find a dress to do it to.

• Was pleased to hear " I like the way you dress" and I replied "I try really, really hard".

• Zoned out listening to the song "The Killing Moon".

• Drank a Lychee Pearl drink that was spelled Litchi.

• Day dreamed of owning my own party planning business.

• Purchased some fabulous shoes.

• Wondered why every afternoon I hear someone tearing open envelopes from another cubicle.

Polaroid Tuesday :: Week 67

I'm failing in providing you with polaroids the past couple of weeks, however I loved this photo I took over the weekend. The daffodils are blooming like crazy in my garden and I tinted the blue mason jar using this recipe. It's so easy and affordable to do instead of buying those pricey vintage blue ball jars. The yellow flowers against the blue jar is especially cheery when entering the house.

Crepe Paper Flowers

Can you believe this is the only photo I have of all the crepe paper flowers I made for our wedding? I spent a year and a half making these and only made just under 100 of them. I took some photos of the process but lost them on my old computer. The florist recently sent this picture to me and I was so pleased. When I dropped them off to her I didn't realize I was going to leave them all with her until the day of the wedding. It so nice to look back and see all my hard work.

The Best $50 I've Spent...

this year so far!

I saw this on Craig's List last weekend and got up extra early to see if I could get my hands on this Wardian Terrarium case.

I set a limit on myself and said "I will not pay more than $75 on this thing". (Retail: they are about $100 and up)

Sales Lady: "We want $50 for it".
Me: "I'll take it along with that China set, can you take $5 off the China set"
Sales Lady: "Sure since you're such a good customer"
Me: Trying to hold back my giddiness and play it cool.

The case is pretty large so I'm having a tough time finding space for it, but I LOVE it!

Polaroid Tuesday :: Valentine's Special

Sorry folks no Polaroid today. Due to LOVE day I am sharing our Valentines that K and I created for our lovely family and friends.

Last Christmas we decided to opt out of the holiday madness and thought we would make it up with a good old fashion Valentine.

We modified this recipe a bit and fashioned up Cupid's arrow.

We had some trouble with using real feathers. They were a bit hard to work with, so I raided my felt box and used it as an alternative.

K sanded, glued and painted the base coat on the arrows and I cut, strung and painted the designs.

I heart hearts.

We had different sayings on each arrow such as "Shoot that poison arrow", "XOXOXOXO", "Shot through the heart".

We packaged each arrow in a mailing tube and sent them to there prospective receivers.

Polaroid Tuesday :: Week 64

It just so happens that I am a Dragon...

I'm not sure if I agree with everything written here but then just saying that might prove true in what this actually says!

As the noble animal symbol that represents the Chinese emperors, Dragons are born leaders and masters of ceremonies. And because of this, every Chinese parent is hoping to have a Dragon child. Dragon people get things started and keep them moving. They are feisty and gifted with power and luck. Most people look up to the Dragon.
Dragons are born monarchs. As far as they can see, their power is indisputable. Dragons are idealists, perfectionists, they are born thinking they are perfect and they are inflexible. Dragons are also aggressive and determined, going after what they want is second nature to them. And due to their hunger for power, Dragons are not well suited to growing old. The prospect of losing power, the helpless feeling of youthful strength ebbing away is unbearable to them.

Irritable and stubborn, the Dragon is a real big mouth and his words often outrun his thoughts. Nevertheless, his opinions are worth listening to and his advice is always good. People do, in fact, listen to him and his influence is considerable. The Dragon is over-proud. He is enthusiastic to the point of impetuosity, and he loses his temper easily.

Dragons are dauntless, dynamic and delightful. When a Dragon enters a gathering, the room starts to simmer. The Dragon carries a self-assurance so impressive, and inflated ego so visible and a mouth so loud that it is useless to try to tell him anything.

Dragons are tyrannical. They hate orders except when they are giving them. Unlike the Tiger, who imposes his will seriously and firmly, the Ox, whose authority is implied in his very stern demeanor, or the Rat, who thrusts his dominion over others, the Dragon knows innately how to exert authority yet be gentle with his slaves. Dragons are terrible snobs. Although money is not always the object, they are slavishly impressed by wealth, prestige, rank and splendor.

The Dragon is gifted, intelligent, tenacious, willing and generous. He can do anything. No matter whether the Dragon chooses an artistic career, medical or political one, he is going to shine in it. He will be a success wherever he goes.

The Dragon is often loved. He is never disappointed in love. In fact, he is frequently the cause of some drama of despair. The women of this sign are surrounded by admirers and often demanded in marriage.

Teepee for a Toddler

There is a little one we know that just turned three! I wanted to make him something special and I conveniently received this book for Christmas. Well, after much contemplating I decided to try my hands at making a teepee!

It was my first time sewing with duck cloth and sewing something more than a straight line!

I must say, not bad for a first! I would love to make one for myself, but I would have to triple the size of the pattern!

Polaroid Tueday :: Week 62

I couldn't resist and gave into purchasing the Fujii Instax 210 camera I mentioned last Tuesday.

I also found these Book Mark Index cards at Office Depot and thought I would keep a sorta polaroid diary. I snap a polaroid picture, jot a few lines down about that day and plop that into my library catalog. Hopefully at the end of the year I will have a catalog full of pictures of 2012!
